Features and USES of hydromagnesite:
A type of fibrous magnesium hydrate that has a brittle texture and is the length of four to six asbestos fibers, but is far less mechanically strong than asbestos. In recent years some friction mills have been used as asbestos substitute materials. Some manufacturers mix fiber magnesium hydrate with sea foam at 1:1 ratio and use it in disc and drum to make non-asbestos friction products.
Hydromagnesite minerals often co-exist with asbestos in rock Triassic, so hemagnesite fibers may sometimes be accompanied by trace amounts of asbestos.
